Job summary

United Concrete is seeking an experienced Heavy Forklift Operator to support daily operations at our Durham, CT facility. This outdoor, hands-on role requires operating high-capacity forklifts (36,000–55,000 lbs), loading and unloading trucks, and managing yard inventory with a spotter.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of forklift experience, a valid certification, and the ability to perform physical labor up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of forklift operation experience with capacity 36,000 lbs or greater.
• Valid forklift operator certification required.
• Proven experience loading/unloading commercial trucks.
• Knowledge of load charts, weight distribution, and rigging practices.
• Ability to perform physical labor up to 50 lbs.
• Drug test and background check required.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-capacity forklifts (36,000–55,000 lbs) at facility and in yard.
• Load and unload flatbed trucks and other delivery vehicles.
• Transport, stack, and organize materials in yard storage areas.
• Work with an assigned spotter during lifts and movements.
• Assist with general labor tasks in the shop when forklift duties are not required.
• Perform pre-operation inspections and document findings.
• Maintain safe storage of materials according to weight limits.
• Follow OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Communicate with supervisors and drivers to ensure smooth workflow.
• Assist with inventory tracking and material counts as needed.
