Job summary

The City of Naperville's Fleet Division is hiring Equipment Technician I, II, or III to repair and maintain a wide range of fleet vehicles including heavy-duty trucks, fire apparatus, and ambulances. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, three to five years of related experience, and a complete set of automotive tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus additional technical training.
• Three to five years of experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical problems and heavy equipment with gasoline and diesel engines including hydraulic systems, computerized equipment, and pumping equipment in the shop and in the field.
• Performs scheduled preventative maintenance to keep downtime to a minimum.
• Maintains current and accurate records of repairs and maintenance.
• Maintains all heavy-duty trucks and off-road equipment and makes necessary repairs.
• Performs welding and fabrication on body and frame parts and on custom built accessories.
• Keeps work area clean and adheres to safety rules and regulations.
