Job summary

The City of Naperville is seeking an Equipment Technician I–III for the Fleet Division to repair, overhaul, and maintain a wide range of city vehicles, from heavy trucks to ambulances and fire apparatus. This is a 2nd shift (11:30 am–8:00 pm) with a 10% shift premium.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent with technical training, 3–5 years of related experience, and a complete set of automotive tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with technical training.
• 3–5 years of related experience in maintenance and repair.
• Complete automotive tool set with portable storage.
• Equipment Technician I requires two ASE certifications.
• Equipment Technician II requires EVT certifications for Fire Apparatus/Ambulance.
• Equipment Technician III requires EVT certifications and ASE credentials per level.
• State of Illinois Class B CDL, with Class A within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy equipment and vehicles.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Maintain records of repairs and maintenance.
• Keep heavy-duty trucks and off-road equipment in good condition.
• Participate in training and stay current with technology.
• Weld and fabricate on body parts and accessories.
• Maintain clean workspace and follow safety rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
