Job summary

Fisher Industries hires a Heavy Equipment Welder to perform specialized metal fabrication and welding for maintaining, modifying and repairing rolling stock, facilities, and equipment. This safety-sensitive, hourly role reports to the Area Shop Foreman and involves working on used equipment.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, fabricating parts, performing quality checks, and adhering to health and safety rules. Pre-employment drug testing and background checks apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1+ years of welding/shop experience.
• Experience in the use of electrical tools, equipment, and the measurements necessary to meet established standards.
• Operate all types of welding equipment.
• Read, understand, follow and/or apply technical oral and written instructions, blueprints
• Utilize all required PPE.
• Communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
• Regular and reliable attendance and performance are required.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety rules and working practices.

• Reads, interprets, and follows blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, weld symbols, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately create equipment and products.
• Operates calipers, weld gauges, tape measures, and other welding hand tools.
• Fabricate metal machine parts (bend, cut, drill, tap, etc.).
• Metal identification, test equipment operation, blueprint analysis and equipment assembly.
• Performs quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards.
• Reworks and/or repairs welded parts and products according to engineering specification.
• Adheres to the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable.
• Build machinery following drafts/blueprints.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Heavy Equipment Welder performs specialized metal fabrication and welding required to maintain, modify and repair the districts rolling stock, facilities and passenger amenities and miscellaneous equipment. This position is a safety sensitive position that works primarily on used equipment to perform maintenance and repair. This is an hourly position that reports directly to Area Shop Foreman.
