Job summary

Martin Marietta in Columbia, SC is seeking an Equipment Operator to join our mining team. The ideal candidate will operate a variety of off-road vehicles and heavy equipment safely and efficiently, including water trucks, haul trucks, dozers, loaders, and excavators.

Day-to-day duties include pre- and post-shift inspections, maintaining berms and roadways, reporting repairs, ensuring safe operation around conveyors and crushers, performing preventive maintenance, and assisting in training

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities.
• Experience in the maintenance and operation of mobile equipment, construction equipment and/or equipment used processing plants.
• Experience in operation and maintenance of off-road vehicles and heavy equipment (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of off-road vehicles and heavy equipment within company guidelines and safety standards.
• Perform daily pre- and post-inspections of working areas and ensure berms and roadways are adequate.
• Conduct pre-shift safety inspections on equipment and report repairs to supervisor.
• Ensure safe operations around conveyors, surge piles and crushers.
• Perform daily preventive maintenance and check tires, oil, grease, diesel, hoses and moving parts.
• Maintain safe traffic flow throughout the site.
• Train co-workers as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
