North Slope Borough — Public Works is seeking a heavy equipment operator in Alaska. The role operates heavy machinery, maintains roads, runways, and landfills, and requires a valid Alaska driver’s license and basic safety certifications.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED, or 12 years of education with related work experience.
• Valid Alaska Driver's License that meets Borough criteria.
• Required certifications: IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800; CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment and machinery in accordance with safety regulations and procedures.
• Maintain roads, airport runway and access roads, and landfill areas.
• Inspect vehicles and equipment prior to operations; complete shift inspection checklist.
• Maintain vehicle logs, inspection forms, maintenance records and daily trip reports.
• Inspect and clean equipment and facility; report maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Load and unload aircraft with heavy equipment.
• May work non-traditional hours including evenings, holidays, weekends, and 24-hour on-call status.
• Attend required safety meetings; perform other duties as assigned.
