North Slope Borough seeks a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator/Truck Driver to support roads, airports, and landfills across the North Slope area. The role includes operating heavy equipment, performing safety inspections, and maintaining logs and reports.

The position features a two‑week on/off shift, potential travel to remote communities, and on‑call duties. A valid Alaska CDL with X/N endorsements and Hazwoper readiness are required, along with immunization documentation and a HS Diploma or

• Two years of experience with heavy equipment operations and maintenance.
• Valid Alaska CDL with X and N endorsements required.
• Hazwoper certification within probationary period is required.
• Documentation of required immunizations (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Hepatitis A/B) prior to employment.

Responsabilidades

• Operate heavy equipment and machinery in accordance with safety regulations and procedures.
• Maintain and clear roads, airport runways, access roads, and landfill areas.
• Inspect vehicles and equipment prior to operations; complete shift inspection checklist.
• Maintain vehicle and equipment logs, inspection forms, maintenance records, and daily trip reports.
• May assist with delivering diesel fuel to North Slope Borough facilities and residences.
• Attend required safety meetings and travel to North Slope communities as needed.
• Be on non-traditional schedules including evenings, holidays, and weekends; may be 24‑hour on-call.

Operates North Slope Borough heavy equipment; maintains roads, airports, and landfills; pumps sewage from septic tanks to pump truck; and assist with operating fuel truck to safely transport and deliver fuel to North Slope Borough facilities and residents. This position will work a two week on - two week off shift and travel where an HEO/Truck Driver is needed.

Operate heavy equipment and other machinery in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.

Maintains and clears roads, airport runways, access roads, and landfill areas.

Inspects vehicles and equipment prior to operations; completes shift inspection checklist.

Maintain vehicle and equipment log, inspection forms, maintenance record and daily trip reports.

Inspects and cleans equipment and facility; reports maintenance needs and deficiencies to supervisor; may need to keep accurate records of fuel deliveries.

Loading and unloads aircraft with heavy equipment. May assist with supervising loading and unloading.

May need to assist with delivering diesel fuel to North Slope Borough fuel storage facilities and residential homes.

May assist in maintaining oil spill response kits and assists with deployment, installation, removal, or other use of spill response equipment materials.

Must be polite and courteous to the public.

May be required to work a non‑traditional work schedule, including evenings, holidays, and weekends, and may be subject to 24‑hour on‑call status.

Attend all required scheduled safety meetings.

Will be required to travel to all North Slope communities.

Knowledge of North Slope Borough organization, operations, policies and procedures.

Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances and regulations involved in heavy equipment operation.

Valid Alaska Commercial Drivers License that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria.

High School graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.

Two years of experience with heavy equipment operations and maintenance.

Valid Alaska Drivers License and Alaska Commercial Drivers License with X and N Endorsement Code (hauling liquids in bulk (tank) that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria.

Ability to obtain 40‑Hour Hazwoper certification within probationary period.

Documentation of adequate Diphtheria Immunization prior to employment; Documentation of Tetanus Immunization prior to employment;

Documentation of Hepatitis A vaccination series with the first dose prior to employment, second dose six months after;

Documentation of Hepatitis B vaccination series with the first dose prior to employment, second dose six months after, and final dose six months after the first dose.
