Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator for our Newport landfill in Vermont.

You will safely operate backhoes, loaders, graders and other yellow iron to transfer, spread and compact waste and soil, while performing inspections and basic maintenance. Starting pay is $22 per hour, with opportunities to advance through Apprentice to Lead Operator levels based on experience and training.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the US.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prefer two years of heavy equipment operation experience.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
• Proven commitment to safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintenance and upkeep of the landfill site.
• Perform pre/post operation inspections on equipment.
• Monitor for hazardous waste and ensure safety devices are operational.
• Operate heavy equipment following safety protocols.
• Participate in training and development opportunities.
