A heavy equipment operator operates, and controls heavy machinery used in construction, mining, forestry, and other industrial settings. These operators are responsible for maneuvering and manipulating equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, graders, and forklifts. They are trained to handle large, powerful machines safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Operate various types and sizes of heavy equipment such as dozers, excavators, scrapers, loaders, etc.
- Operate equipment in an efficient manner and follow instruction of on-site management.
- Follow all equipment monitoring and maintenance requirements.
- Must be capable and willing to maintain/grease equipment.
- Conduct work with 100% integrity and professionalism.
Qualifications
- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Able to lift 50 pounds. Able to walk moderate distances to reach work area.
- Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
- Must have good hand-eye coordination, quick reaction times.
- Required to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- A sound understanding of pertinent safety guidelines.
- Capacity to provide and follow direction.
- Sharp decision-making skills, particularly when under pressure.
- Ability to work extended hours, as required.
- Travel to jobsites within 70 miles of main office in Honesdale, PA.
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record is preferred
