The utility inspection laborer is responsible for assisting Field Leads with utility infrastructure inspection, maintenance, and/or restoration.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work safely and independent of supervision.
  • Operate in a safe and efficient manner, utilizing all required safety equipment and following established safe work practices and procedures.
  • Carry equipment and supplies to structure being serviced.
  • Utilize hand tools to excavate and backfill ground material around structures.
  • Apply preservatives and/or coatings to ground line area of a structure.
  • Assist with installation of trusses for deteriorated structures.
  • Demonstrate high work standards and attention to detail with a quality orientation.
  • Meets productivity standards and completes work in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all company and customer required policies and procedures, including but not limited a Drug and Alcohol Fee Workplace.
  • Present a professional appearance and attitude.
  • Assume full responsibility for the safe operation and maintenance of a company vehicle, equipment, and tools.
  • Assist Field Leadman with maintaining an adequate inventory of equipment and supplies, and maintaining vehicles and work areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Candidate Qualifications/ Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • No prior experience or training required. 1-year utility industry experience preferred. Additional experience working in the construction industry or related field a plus.
  • Must be capable of working in a physically demanding role with ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach with hands and arms, and regularly lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be 21 with a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to work outside in variable terrain and weather conditions.
  • Must be capable of walking several miles a day over various type of terrain.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
  • Must be willing to travel which may include air as required. Varies by customer and/or location and can include frequent Monday through Friday overnight travel throughout one or more states. Extended work weeks and additional hours are probable during peak work periods or for specific jobs. Must maintain a consistent attendance record and be available for work Monday through Saturday and sometimes Sundays as needed.
  • Must be able to work in all outside weather conditions (wet, hot, cold)
  • Able to work at a moderate noise level.
  • Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and walk for various periods of time.
  • Must wear minimum 6” high lace up boots with hard toe, reflective vest, hard hat, gloves, ear plugs and safety glasses.
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs.

Schedule

  • Travel out of state up to 6 weeks at a time
  • Overtime
  • Weekends
  • Hours 10-12 hours
