Brevard County's Public Works Department, Roadway and Bridge unit, seeks a skilled equipment operator for permanent full-time work in the South Area/Palm Bay. The role operates and maintains heavy equipment and may perform related manual labor, rotating between machines as needed. A Florida Class A CDL is required before employment and must be maintained.
Three years of experience and passing a proficiency skills test are required. Work schedule is Monday–Friday 7:00 a.m.
$25.09 to $27.60 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Palm Bay. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Performs skilled crafts and trades work in the operation and routine maintenance of several pieces of complex heavy equipment, and may perform related manual labor. Employee will rotate among various pieces of equipment.
Three (3) years of experience in the operation and routine maintenance of heavy equipment including a Track-Hoe excavator, Back Hoe, Road Grader, and Dozer, used in the construction and maintenance of roads, sidewalks, and drainage structures, and pass a proficiency skills test. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Class A Commercial Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must demonstrate ability to effectively operate four (4) different types of heavy equipment including a Track-Hoe excavator, Back Hoe, Road Grader, and Dozer. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
