Job summary

Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) – Division of Forestry, Blue Rock State Forest, Muskingum County, OH – seeks an Equipment Operator 2. A Class A CDL is required to operate heavy equipment and perform road, trail, and fire-related tasks.

Full-time opportunity with a starting wage of $22.29 per hour and potential increases to $24.63 per hour over 3.5 years; 8:00–4:30 with flexible hours, OCSEA union; location in Zanesville, OH 43720.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic and basic English; 9 months training or 9 months experience in heavy equipment operation.
• Valid commercial driver's license (Class A) required.
• Or equivalent minimum qualifications for employment.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy motorized equipment for construction and maintenance tasks.
• Performs wildfire support such as trail, culvert, road, and bridge work.
• Maintains and repairs equipment and facilities; grounds maintenance.
• Assists with wildfire suppression and prescribed fire support.
• Starting pay is $22.29/hr with raises to $24.63/hr after 3.5 years.
