Kickapoo Turnpike Agency (OTA) in Newalla, OK is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator I/II. Work hours approx. 7:30am–4:00pm on Kickapoo Turnpike. Position supports highway maintenance and repair with growth potential to Level II upon CDL attainment.

Level I requires no prior experience; Level II requires 1 year of heavy equipment experience and a Class A CDL. Compensation ranges from $20.50–$23.77/hour with yearly equivalents listed.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment used in highway maintenance.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and traffic control requirements.
• Willingness to obtain CDL Class A and perform travel/emergency duty as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as trucks, graders, dozers, loaders and trailers as required.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and facilities.
• Repair roadway shoulders or bridge decks as needed to maintain safety.
• Repair/replace signs, guardrails and fences along rights-of-way.
• Assist traffic control using stop/slow signals as directed by supervisor.
• Apply herbicides and remove debris to maintain highways.
