Job summary

Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator I/II for the Kickapoo Turnpike in Newalla, OK. The role supports maintenance and repair of highways, operating power equipment, and handling related tasks.

Position is full-time with set daytime hours; Level I offers CDL-eligible advancement to Level II after CDL and experience. OTA provides competitive pay, benefits, and growth opportunities in public service.

Qualifications

• One year of experience operating heavy equipment (preferred in road construction/maintenance).
• CDL Class A required or to be obtained within specified timeframe.
• Must be willing to travel as part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment and machinery (trucks, graders, dozers, loaders, cranes, backhoes, etc.).
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities.
• Repair roadway shoulders, signs, guardrails, and fences as needed.
• Provide traffic control using stop/slow signals or flags.
• Apply herbicide to highway rights-of-way to control vegetation.
• Remove debris from roadways and rights-of-way.
