Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator north of Las Vegas, NV. Under supervision, you will operate cranes, graders, loaders, dozer, and other heavy machinery to excavate, load, and move materials.

May read grade stakes and simple plans while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma, 4+ years of experience, a Nevada CDL, and the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 4+ years of heavy equipment operator experience.
• Must pass a practical skills test on multiple equipment including backhoe, bulldozer, scraper, road grader and loader.
• Must have a valid Nevada CDL.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Fluent in English (written and verbal).

Responsibilities

• Ensures work is compliant with regulations and building codes; provides material requirement lists.
• Operates heavy equipment for pavements and grounds; maintains and repairs equipment as needed.
• Calculates material requirements for road preservation and project scope.
• Provides leadership to independent work groups.
• Maintains quality control standards on all work performed.
• Ensures safe work practices for individuals and teams.
• Operates general and special purpose vehicles.
• Reads blueprints and plans to lay out work and measure dimensions.
