Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator north of Las Vegas, NV, under indirect supervision. You will operate cranes, graders, bulldozers, scrapers, and large tractors, interpret grade stakes and read plans to guide earthwork activities.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma, 4+ years of operator experience, Nevada CDL, ability to pass a skills test, and the capability to obtain a Secret security clearance; English fluency and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Prefer at least 4 years of experience as a heavy equipment operator through training or apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Must pass a practical skills test on multiple equipment including backhoe, bulldozer, scraper, road grader and front-end loader.
• Must possess a valid Nevada CDL.
• Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Fluent in English in writing and speaking.
• Must work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as cranes, motor graders, heavy loaders, bulldozers and scrapers.
• Read grade and slope stakes and simple plans to guide work.
• Ensure compliance with government regulations and building codes.
• Provide leadership to independent work groups to accomplish tasks.
• Maintain proper quality control on all work performed.
• Follow safe work practices both independently and in teams.
• Plan and lay out work from blueprints using measuring tools.
• Perform related duties as assigned by site supervision.
