Job summary

Hallett Materials in Des Moines, IA is seeking an Equipment Operator to perform grounding and construction tasks using a variety of heavy equipment. The role requires flexibility to move between duties as project needs shift.

You will adhere to OSHA/MSHA safety rules, conduct routine equipment inspections, and support training for less experienced workers. Applicants must be at least 18 and pass pre-employment checks, with a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment of various sizes and weights, safely and efficiently.
• Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
• Report any problems to the Foreperson, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources.
• Participate with various duties such as shoveling and raking, running wheelbarrow, etc. as assigned.
• Perform daily safety checks of all equipment and site operations.
• Perform daily pre-and-post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
• Assist in training less experienced employees on the proper operations, servicing, and repair of equipment to further their abilities.
• Other duties as assigned.
