Job summary

Hallett Materials, a CRH company in Des Moines, IA, seeks an Equipment Operator to run heavy machinery in groundwork and construction tasks across utility projects.

You will perform pre-shift inspections, follow OSHA/MSHA safety procedures, and assist with site duties as needed. This role requires 1–2 years of related experience and a High School diploma or GED, with commitment to safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 1–2 years related experience and/or training.
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment of various sizes and weights, safely and efficiently.
• Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
• Report problems to Foreperson, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources.
• Assist with other site duties as assigned (shoveling, raking, wheelbarrow).
• Perform daily safety checks of equipment and site operations.
• Follow Foreperson directions for daily tasks and expectations.
• Perform minor servicing and maintenance; refer major problems to supervisor.
• Complete daily pre- and post-inspections with proper documentation.
