Job summary

MasTec, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to operate front end loaders, graders, excavators, dozers, and other heavy machinery on wind and civil projects.

The role requires adherence to safety policies, ability to read drawings, and coordination with crew members to complete land clearing and grading tasks. The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED with 1–3 years of related experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and willingness to travel to job sites.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED with 1–3 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience operating heavy equipment and basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of GPS systems and basic math for measuring and grading.
• Commitment to safety policies and procedures and to working in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures.
• Operate heavy equipment with knowledge of functions, running, navigating, detecting problems and driving.
• May build level or extreme terrain and excavate land surfaces with listed equipment.
• Drive and maneuver equipment to remove top soil, rocks, and distribute and level earth.
• Coordinate machine actions with other activities and respond to signals from crew members.
• Perform daily maintenance and fill out maintenance reports.
