Job summary

Primoris Services Corporation is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator for a project in the Donaldsonville, LA area. You will operate excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, trenchers, and backhoes in a safe and efficient manner.

You will perform inspections, read blueprints, and coordinate with foremen to ensure accurate execution of work. A valid driver's license is required; CDL may be needed depending on project demands. This is a full-time, outdoor role with varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience operating heavy construction equipment.
• Safely operate excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and other heavy machinery.
• Valid driver's license; CDL may be required depending on project needs.
• Read and interpret construction plans, schematics, and grade stakes.
• Strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, trenchers, and backhoes safely and efficiently.
• Perform daily pre-/post-operation inspections and document findings.
• Conduct routine maintenance checks and report issues.
• Dig trenches, grade surfaces, move materials, and backfill per specs and blueprints.
• Adhere to safety policies, procedures, and regulations (OSHA, MSHA).
• Communicate project progress, hazards, and equipment needs with foremen and crew.
• Read blueprints, grade stakes, and other docs to ensure accurate execution.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and equipment.
• Assist ground crew with manual labor when not operating equipment.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
