Job summary

Maine Drilling & Blasting Inc in Burlington, VT is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator/Driller Trainee (Construction). You’ll operate backhoes, skid steers, excavators, or loaders while learning drilling and blasting under experienced supervision.

The role offers an hourly rate of $20–$22 plus a travel stipend, with growth opportunities within a majority employee-owned ESOP company that emphasizes internal promotion and strong safety programs.

Qualifications

• Equipment operating experience is helpful
• Valid Driver's License with own transportation
• Experience as construction laborer
• Must hold a high level of common sense relative to equipment and machinery operation
• Mechanical aptitude based on past experience around equipment, motors, hydraulic, electrical systems, desired
• Must successfully pass ATF screenings

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy construction equipment as instructed by Superintendents, Blasting Supervisor or Drill Operators
• Maintain safety and work well in varying weather conditions
• May require out-of-town travel and overtime
• Perform daily maintenance for safe, efficient operation of assigned equipment
• Adhere to Company Safety Policies and Procedures
• Learn drill patterns and execute patterns as established by the Blaster Foreman
• Coordinate with Blaster for supplies and layout
• Complete drill reports, hole sheets, and timecards accurately
