Job summary

Maine Drilling & Blasting Inc is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator/Driller Trainee to learn and perform heavy equipment work in construction settings. The role offers room for growth from trainee to driller with on‑the‑job instruction under supervision.

Hourly rate is $20–$22 per hour with a travel stipend. Applicants should be safety‑minded, able to lift and handle equipment, and willing to travel as needed to job sites.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy construction equipment such as backhoe, skid steer, excavators, or loaders.
• Valid driver’s license with own transportation required.
• Experience as a construction laborer preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude around equipment, motors, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Must pass ATF screenings.

Responsibilities

• Operate and learn drill patterns under supervision as directed by Foreman, Superintendents or Drill Operators.
• Maintain safety mindset and adapt to varying weather conditions.
• Travel out of town and work overtime as needed.
• Perform daily maintenance for safe operation of equipment.
• Follow safety policies and procedures.
• Learn drill patterns and layouts, then execute as directed by the Blaster Foreman.
• Inventory accessories, understand costs and maintenance needs.
• Communicate problems and terrain conditions to the Blaster/Foreman.
• Complete required drilling reports and timecards accurately.
• Maintain physical agility and coordinate supplies.
• Attend foremen/safety/job meetings as required.
• Aim to complete Driller I training in designated period.
• Work unsupervised with a sense of urgency.
• Other duties as assigned.
