Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a skilled maintenance worker for Kershaw Maintenance to operate a range of heavy equipment including boom trucks, snooper trucks, crawler cranes, pavers and milling machines, performing bridge maintenance and assisting in emergency operations.

Two years of related experience, a valid driver's license, and CDL within six months are required; candidates must meet physical demands and be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying weather

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of related work experience or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required upon entry to the position; Class A CDL within six (6) months.
• Must be able to perform physical tasks including bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operates specialized equipment such as boom trucks, snooper trucks, crawler cranes, pavers and milling machines.
• Performs skilled bridge maintenance functions and operates heavy equipment (e.g., backhoe, lowboy).
• Supports emergency and inclement weather operations, including use of tandem dump trucks with plows/spreaders and motor graders.
