Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a maintenance worker at Kershaw Maintenance to operate heavy equipment and perform bridge maintenance tasks. On entry, a valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required, with attainment of a Class A CDL within six months of placement.

Qualifications

• Two years of related work experience or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months of placement in the position.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including backhoe, crane, and trucks as part of routine maintenance.
• Perform skilled bridge maintenance functions and operate equipment as needed.
• Assist in emergency and inclement weather operations, including operating medium or heavy-duty equipment.
• Adhere to safety procedures and coordinate with other crews to ensure work zones are safe.
