Essential Job Summary:

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the loading, pushing, and transferring of solid waste material in our transfer station. The ideal candidate will be able to maintain this transfer station efficiently and professionally. They should possess both teamwork and self-motivation traits.

Essential Job Functions:

• Operate industrial forklift (tow motor), also known as container lifter or reacher-stacker, along with other small machinery.
• Maneuver large containers around the rail yard and load/unload rail cars.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, employees, and management via handheld radios and CBs.
• Set up and inspect equipment prior to operation.
• Understand machine capabilities and limitations.
• Observe hand signals or other markings when operating machines to ensure safety compliance.
• Receive written and oral instructions regarding material movement.
• Move materials around the rail yard.
• Maintain an efficient flow to reduce traffic congestion.
• Follow OSHA safety standards and wear required PPE.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Applicants must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating a forklift tow motor.
• Other duties as assigned.
