Job Summary

Detroit Salt Company seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator (Haul Truck Driver) to transport salt and other materials within the mine. Responsibilities include loading, hauling, and unloading materials efficiently while adhering to safety regulations. The role requires excellent driving skills, safety awareness, and the ability to work underground.

Responsibilities

1. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations; stay alert to hazards and changing conditions.
2. Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently underground, including haul trucks.
3. Perform basic maintenance on conveyor systems, crushers, and screens.
4. Assist with mobile equipment maintenance as directed.
5. Operate other mining equipment and support functions.
6. Inspect work to meet specifications.
7. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
8. Complete paperwork accurately and keep records.
9. Communicate safety and production concerns to management.
10. Cross-train and perform varied duties as needed.
11. Uphold company and MSHA safety regulations.
12. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience with heavy equipment (wheeled loader, skid steer, articulated truck) preferred.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Mechanical and electrical skills preferred.
• Problem-solving skills required.
• Strong attention to safety to prevent injuries.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English.
• Reliable attendance.
• Ability to pass physical and drug tests.

Physical Requirements

• Work safely in varying temperatures, indoors and outdoors.
• Lift and carry up to 50+ pounds regularly.
• Wear all required PPE.
