Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) seeks three Heavy Equipment Mechanics (HEM2) for the Northwest Region TEF shops in Bellevue and Kent, WA. The role inspects, diagnoses, and repairs a variety of heavy and specialized vehicles used in highway maintenance and engineering, with duties including preventative maintenance and system troubleshooting.

Responsibilities include performing diagnostics, welding or fabrication as needed, and maintaining accurate shop records.

Qualifications

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy equipment used in highway maintenance and engineering.
• Operate class A, B, and C vehicles and other equipment.
• Understand safety standards and maintain repair documentation.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair small to heavy equipment used in highway maintenance and engineering.
• Repair vehicles including graders, loaders, sweepers, snow equipment and other state machinery.
• Use digital diagnostic software and scanning tools to troubleshoot systems.
• Perform hydraulic system repairs, overhauls, and fabricate parts as needed.
• Operate shop machinery to create specialty parts and tools.
• Execute preventive maintenance inspections and timely servicing.
• Maintain repair records and parts ordering processes.
• Lead in absence of Heavy Equipment Mechanic 3 and support shop operations.
