Job summary

Amentum seeks an experienced maintenance technician to diagnose defects, dismantle and repair heavy equipment, and test overhauled systems. You will work under Technical Manuals, inspect parts for wear, and replace engines or subassemblies as needed to ensure optimal operation.

The role requires five+ years in heavy machinery maintenance, knowledge of engines, and the ability to read manuals and safely operate vehicles. Travel and potential security clearance may be involved.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five or more years’ experience in heavy machinery maintenance with at least 3 years in the field.
• Knowledge of engine operations and components.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to operate a Government vehicle.
• Ability to read and apply Technical Manual instructions and safety rules.
• Ability to write routine reports and notices.
• May require security clearance and travel.

Responsibilities

• Operates and inspects machines to diagnose defects.
• Dismantles/reassembles equipment using manuals, tools.
• Examines parts for wear using micrometers and gauges.
• Replaces defective engines/subassemblies and tests for efficiency.
• Welds broken parts and structural members.
• Adheres to Technical Manuals; may supervise helpers.
• May suggest maintenance procedure improvements.
