Job summary

The West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) seeks a Transportation Worker 3 Mechanic to join District 7 at the Heavy Maintenance Headquarters in Lewis County and the I-79 Section 4 Headquarters (Burnsville) in Braxton County, WV.

You will perform advanced mechanical work on gasoline and diesel-powered automotive and highway equipment, including overhauls, major repairs, hydraulic systems, fabricating from blueprints, and maintaining work orders and records.

Qualifications

Four years of full-time experience as an automotive mechanic (gas/diesel).
Ability to read blueprints and diagnose mechanical problems.
Welding certification or ability to obtain certification.
Valid driver's license at hire; CDL required within six months.

Responsibilities

Fabricate engine and machinery parts from blueprints.
Perform major overhauls and preventive maintenance on gasoline/diesel equipment.
Repair hydraulic systems and weld components as needed.
Maintain work orders and records of parts and repairs.
Travel may be required; CDL will be required within six months.
