Job summary

Sargent's Equipment & Repair Service is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to diagnose, repair, maintain, and service heavy equipment and attachments in both our shop and the field. Expect troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and structural issues, plus repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance.

You will communicate findings, prepare work orders, and interact with customers professionally.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification or Degree in this field or minimum of three years’ experience.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot Hydraulic Systems.
  • Proficient with Light and Heavy equipment.
  • Must have own tools up to 2 inches.
  • Must have and obtain a good driving record (MVR).
  • Hold a CDL license.
  • Ability to weld Stick and Mig, Air Arcing is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Clean and organized.
  • Must pass a Physical and Drug Screen (DOT).
  • Ability to attend Factory School (company pays) to stay updated.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, maintain, and service heavy equipment and attachments in shop and field.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and structural issues; complete repairs and component replacements.
  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance; assist with equipment setup, testing, and delivery preparation.
  • Communicate repair findings and parts needs; complete accurate work orders and service documentation; communicate with customers in the field.

Role Description:

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and servicing heavy equipment and attachments in both our shop and the field. Work includes troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and structural issues; completing repairs and component replacements; performing inspections and preventative maintenance; and assisting with equipment setup, testing, rental preparation, and delivery preparation. Mechanics are also responsible for communicating repair findings and parts needs, completing accurate work orders and service documentation, and communicating professionally with customers while working in the field.

Requirements/Responsibilities:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certification or Degree in this field/ or minimum of three years’ experience
  • Must be able to trouble shoot Hydraulic Systems
  • Proficient with Light and Heavy equipment
  • Must be able to trouble shoot 12- and 24-Volt Systems
  • Must have own tools up to 2 inches
  • Able to work both in yard and service clients in field using company truck
  • Must have and obtain a good driving record (MVR)
  • Hold a CDL license
  • Ability to conduct repairs in a timely and efficient manner
  • Must be able to weld both Stick and Mig, Air Arcing is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Clean and organized
  • Must be able to pass a Physical and Drug Screen (DOT)
  • Ability to attend Factory School (company pays), to keep you updated on changes in your field
