Job summary

Fiore & Sons, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to service and repair construction machinery at job sites across Colorado.

You will diagnose issues on Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, and Kenworth equipment, travel independently to worksites, and perform maintenance with minimal supervision. This role requires a CDL Class B, your own basic tools, and strong communication to coordinate with crews.

Qualifications

• Troubleshoot and repair heavy equipment between sites.
• Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, fuel and hydraulic schematics for repairs.
• Diagnose Tier 3/4 emissions systems and perform repairs.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and replacements on equipment.
• Remove/install major components and service trucks/vehicles.

Responsibilities

The Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic is a highly skilled and valued individual who regularly exercises their expertise to service and maintain heavy equipment (Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, Kenworth) designed for construction activities.This individual travels to worksites to diagnose and fix equipment issues without supervision, in a timely fashion, enabling crews to resume work on major projects.

• Accurately troubleshoot and repair heavy equipment.
• Read, understand, and apply mechanical, electrical, fuel and hydraulic schematics to repair work.
• Diagnose Tier 3 and Tier 4 interim and Tier 4 final emissions systems.
• Perform scheduled maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating parts.
• Remove, repair, and install major heavy equipment components in varying configurations.
• Service truck trailers and maintain equipment inspection and service logs on a daily basis.
• Maintain tools in good working order as per OSHA regulations.
• Participate in ongoing safety trainings and initiatives and maintain commitment to the highest safety standards.
• Checking primary email on a regular basis for any communication from the company, as this is the company’s primary mode of communication.
• Ability to prioritize effectively, work independently, manage time, multitask, and handle stress.
• Highly effective communicator with the ability to interact professionally with vendors, customers, coworkers, and leadership.
• CDL Class B endorsement or higher.
• Must possess own basic hand tools.
• Good driving record to be able to drive Company vehicles.
• Willingness and ability to adapt to scheduling needs, including primarily day shift hours (usually between 6 AM and 4 PM), overtime, weekends, and/or holidays as required to accommodate company and project needs.
• Ability to pass pre- and post-employment drug screening and work history verification.
• Consistent access to a reliable personal email account.
• Ability to communicate in English with co-workers and the general public.
• Ability to do and understand basic math equations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Primary functions require the physical ability and mobility to stand, sit, or lie down for extended periods of time and repeatedly work overhead, kneel, crawl, push, pull, bend, twist, and climb equipment as required by task. Manual dexterity and visual acuity to identify and manipulate small components.Keen sense of smell and hearing to identify unseen problems with equipment or fluids.Ability to frequently lift 25 to 50 pounds.
