Job summary

Yancey Bros. Co. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines and related systems on Caterpillar equipment.

You will work on heavy equipment components, perform diagnostics, welding, and documentation of service activities in a safety-conscious environment. You should have prior diesel technician experience, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to read manuals and communicate with customers and supervisors.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working as a diesel technician.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, computer and mechanical systems, welding, and diagnostic test equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals and follow instructions.
• Ability to communicate with customers and supervisors.
• Licenses/certificates for equipment operation.
• Experience reading schematics and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot and locate mechanical deficiencies on heavy equipment diesel engines.
• Repair and replace components of frames, suspension, drivetrains, electrical systems.
• Determine extent of repairs and prepare service orders.
• Tune up engines and diagnose controls and A/C components.
• Perform welding and fabricating parts.
• Complete documentation in work orders and time sheets.
• Work safely according to procedures.
