Job summary

Doc PersonalBeratung GmbH in Charleston seeks qualified maintenance mechanics to service heavy equipment, diesel trucks, and passenger vehicles in a fast-paced shop. Tools are provided, and training is offered; overtime possible outside weather events.

Position requires CDL within six months, a valid driver’s license, and six months of related experience or an equivalent automotive program. Benefits include insurance, retirement, holidays and paid leave.

Qualifications

• Six months of related work experience or an approved high school automotive technology/diesel program substitute.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required; Class A CDL must be obtained within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Assist other mechanics in routine maintenance and general repairs on heavy equipment and engines.
• Assist in repairs to automatic and standard transmissions.
• Answer service calls in the field as necessary.
• Perform vehicle preventive maintenance up to level III on state equipment (SCDOT Key Series 001–011).
• Troubleshoot electrical problems and train in diagnostic equipment and manuals used for diagnosing problems.
• Attend job-related training as set up by SCDOT and supervisor.
• Check fuel, water and oil levels to ensure proper servicing.
• Perform small engine repairs on handheld equipment (e.g., chainsaws, weed eaters).
• Perform light brake repairs and assist with more complex repairs to brake systems.
• M ake repairs to exhaust systems and replace mufflers/tailpipes as needed.
• Install and repair inclement weather equipment (snow plows, spreaders).
• Assist in operating the Maintenance Shop during emergencies and on-call after hours.
• Keep the shop clean and organized.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
