Job summary

State Equipment Fleet in Fairbanks, Alaska, is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic at the Advanced Journey/Lead level to maintain heavy- and light-duty equipment used in road construction and maintenance.

The role requires diagnosing complex issues, performing routine repairs, and ensuring fuel, hydraulic, and braking systems are operating safely. CDL training may be available for qualified applicants, with travel to remote sites as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Professionally maintain all heavy-duty and light-duty equipment and vehicles used in road construction and maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair unusual or complex equipment problems using various techniques.
• Repair and modify systems including transmissions, drive trains, suspension, engines, fuel injection, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical systems.
