Diesel Mechanic – Bronx, NY

Job Summary

Transdev seeks an experienced Diesel Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. The role ensures safety, efficiency, and longevity of our transportation fleet.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections (PM’s) and document findings.
• Perform repairs for defects identified during PMs and daily vehicle inspections (DVI’s).
• Diagnose and complete all phases of vehicle and equipment repairs, including brakes, suspensions, engines, and transmissions.
• Ensure work orders are completed accurately and on time.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• At least 5 years of automotive or diesel maintenance & repair experience, or an equivalent combination of technical school education and experience.
• Solid mechanic toolset and ASE certifications preferred; willingness to participate in company ASE certification program.
• Subject to DOT drug testing; compliance with 49 CFR Part 40.

Physical Requirements

• Work outside in varying temperatures, weather, and humidity for 100% of the job, often alone and in remote locations.
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day) and walk long distances on potentially uneven or slippery surfaces.
• Push, pull, and lift objects up to 50 lbs; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch for ground-level tasks.
• Tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
