Job summary

Transdev North America in Bronx, NY is seeking an experienced Master Diesel Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines across our fleet. You will perform comprehensive PMs and ensure safety, efficiency, and longevity for vehicles and equipment.

The role requires at least 5 years in automotive or diesel maintenance, a valid driver's license, and mechanic's toolset. ASE certifications are preferred, and you will participate in the company ASE program.

Qualifications

• ASE certifications preferred; willingness to participate in company program.
• DOT drug testing compliance.

Responsibilities

• Complete preventative maintenance inspections.
• Repair defects found during PM.

• Finish repairs on defects noted during daily inspections.
• Ensure work orders are completed accurately.

Master Diesel Mechanic

Transdev in Bronx, NY is seeking an experienced Master Diesel Mechanic to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our fleet.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete preventative maintenance inspections (PMs).
• Perform repairs on defects found during a PM.
• Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repairs, including but not limited to brakes, suspensions, engines, and transmissions.
• Complete repairs on defects noted during daily vehicle inspections (pre‑trip inspections).
• Ensure work orders are completed accurately.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• At least 5 years of automotive or diesel maintenance & repair employment experience or a combination of technical school education and experience.
• Mechanic’s toolset.
• ASE certifications preferred. Must be willing to participate in company ASE certification program (company training, testing, and bonuses provided).
• Subject to DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.

Physical Requirements

• Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions – 100% of the job is performed outside, often alone and in remote locations.
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces.
• Push and pull objects; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level.
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing duties; tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
