Job summary

DC Army National Guard is seeking Horizontal Construction Engineers to operate heavy equipment and prepare construction sites. You will learn basic construction methods and engineering principles while training and earning a paycheck.

You will complete nine weeks of Basic Training and nine weeks of Advanced Individual Training, with opportunities for tuition assistance and veteran benefits upon completion.

Qualifications

• Military enlistment with Army National Guard.
• Must be at least a junior in high school or have a high school diploma or GED.
• Ages 17–35.
• Must pass a physical exam and meet standards.
• Citizenship requirements apply.

Responsibilities

• Analyze grade stakes information and place stakes.
• Cut and spread fill material with scraper.
• Operate bulldozers, roadgrinders, and other heavy equipment.
• Level earth for runways and roadbeds; clear, excavate, and dig areas.
