Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager to oversee all aspects of assigned heavy civil construction projects in Charleston, SC. You will manage budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, contracts, and purchase orders while interacting professionally with owners.

This role reports to the Senior Project Manager. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in large commercial construction, strong organization, and the ability to lead teams across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience managing large commercial construction projects.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to coordinate with owners, engineers, and government offices.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, and contracts.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, reviewing, and returning submittals for items to be manufactured or provided
• Coordinating equipment, crews, and material deliveries on major items
• Assembling job cost codes and regularly updating them
• Reviewing and approving subcontractor/supplier estimates and invoices
• Negotiating and coordinating extra work orders and scope changes
• Monitoring production and costs to maintain project profit margin
• Preparing monthly job cost/profit projections
