Job summary

MasTec Civil, LLC is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for a major heavy civil project based in Charleston, SC. You will support the Project Executive with planning, scheduling, budgeting, and on-site leadership to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

The role requires a civil engineering degree, 5+ years of heavy highway experience, and strong communication skills. MasTec offers a robust benefits package and opportunities for growth within a leading contractor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Science and Management.
• 5+ years of heavy highway experience; 2+ years of progressive project management experience preferred.
• Professional Engineering registration in civil engineering preferred.
• Design-Build project delivery experience preferred.
• Excellent organizational and written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Develop and adjust project plans, staffing, equipment, and timelines.
• Lead on-site coordination meetings and ensure timely document submission.
• Staff the project with HR, mentor engineers, and enforce policies.
• Review contracts, payments, and cost reports; identify variances and potential claims.
• Manage the project budget, cost performance, and change orders/documentation.
• Oversee subcontractors and vendors; resolve payments and disputes.
• Maintain daily reports, logs, photos, and meeting minutes.
• Represent the company professionally and maintain client relations.
• Enforce safety standards and OSHA compliance across activities.
