Job summary

Arcosa Traffic Structures in Sumterville, FL is seeking a Heavy Assembler to join our manufacturing team. You will assemble mechanical units, fabricate parts, and sub-assemblies using hand tools, power tools, jigs and fixtures.

You’ll read blueprints, verify parts, and ensure assemblies meet tolerances. The role requires 2+ years in general assembly, ability to lift 65+ pounds, and familiarity with reading tape measures.

Qualifications

• Able to read a tape measure.
• Able to lift 65+ pounds, repeatedly.
• 2+ years of experience in general assembly work.
• Steel yard experience is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and layout specifications.
• Ability to operate mobile equipment.
• Identify and match sub-assemblies to final product.
• Experience with power and air tools to apply torque sequences and values.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Basic communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Fit, align, calibrate and adjust parts to meet tolerances and product operating requirements.
• Read blueprints and verify required parts prior to assembly.
• Inform supervisors of any parts or equipment defects to ensure prompt response to the problem.
• Repair units or products that have failed to meet requirements.
• Attach components to finished product as specified.
• Lay out reference points, positions, aligns, and fits together fabricated parts according to blueprint and layout specifications.
• Identify parts that need repair and perform repairs as necessary.
• May participate in safety committees or initiatives.
• Follow safety rules and practices.

Arcosa Traffic Structures is looking for a Heavy Assembler. In this position you will assemble mechanical units, fabricate parts/components, sub-assemblies, assemble and complete units using hand tools, power tools, jigs, fixtures and miscellaneous equipment.

What you’ll do:

• Fit, align, calibrate and adjust parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product operating requirements
• Read blueprints and verify the parts required prior to assembly
• Inform supervisors of any parts or equipment defects to ensure prompt response to the problem
• Repair units or products that have failed to meet requirements

Working Conditions:

• Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds.
• This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays
• Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant
