Job summary

Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, is seeking a Heating Plant Operator to operate the heating plant equipment and monitor generators and controls to ensure reliable steam and power for campus buildings.

The role requires 5+ years of power plant experience or a technical degree, ability to pass hearing tests, and willingness to work shift hours. Regular full-time union position, onsite work.

Qualifications

• Five years of relevant power plant maintenance and boiler operations experience; or post-secondary technical school degree in power plant operation; or the equivalent.
• Ability to pass an annual hearing test and willingness to participate in a hearing conservation program.
• High school graduate or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Starts, stops and operates equipment according to proper procedures and safety guidelines.
• Monitors overall plant operation using the Bailey Distributed Control System, local gauges and panel meters.
• Ensures facility compliance with operating permits, facility emissions limits and operating procedures.
• Responds to after-hours telephone requests for assistance from members of the College community.
• Maintains turbine room log and makes event entries in station log book.
