Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Health Unit Coordinator or related administrative role in healthcare.
• Familiarity with basic medical terminology and HIPAA regulations.
• Exceptional communication skills and strong attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with electronic health records and office productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain patient records in an organized and confidential manner.
• Create in-house appointments for all patients upon admission.
• Handle and direct phone calls and other communications in a timely and professional way.
• Receive and distribute messages and results from laboratory and radiology departments.
• Liaise between healthcare professionals and other team members to facilitate communication and coordination of care.
• Create and follow up on referrals to ensure patients' appointments are received.
• Process and complete any needed prior authorizations via insurance companies.
• Schedule and coordinate appointments and procedures, ensuring patients are informed and prepared.
• Coordinate transportation calendar and create schedule for the Medical Van Driver.
• Aid in coordination of discharge paperwork with case managers and clinic staff; update EMR on discharge.
• Complete and distribute daily and monthly reports (box report, census, driving schedule, vitals log).
• Maintain and organize supplies and equipment; ensure unit complies with regulations.
