Job summary

Hartgrove Behavioral Health System seeks a Security Officer to help maintain a safe hospital environment. You will patrol the grounds, monitor activity, respond to alarms, and protect staff, patients, and visitors at Hartgrove and Garfield campuses in Chicago.

PRN shifts include Days, PMs, and Nights; you may work a minimum of four shifts per month with two weekend shifts and two holidays per year. High school diploma required; healthcare security experience preferred; CPI/PERC credentials are a

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in security, psychiatric or acute care hospital preferred.
• PERC card preferred, CPI is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assures safe and secure environment.
• Guards, patrols, or monitors premises to prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules.
• Patrols premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
• Answers alarms and investigate disturbances.
• Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintains security of premises.
• Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
• Circulates among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
• Warns persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehends or evicts violators from premises, using force when necessary.
• Operates detecting devices to screen individuals and prevents passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.
• Performs duties while maintaining good service excellence and service recovery skills at all times.
