Job summary

MultiCare Health System in Auburn, WA seeks a Security Officer to protect patients, staff and visitors and to enforce hospital policies across campus. You will monitor facilities, deter threats, and respond to emergencies with de‑escalation and safety techniques.

Prior security experience in healthcare is preferred, with IAHSS or the ability to obtain certification within a year, plus BLS/First Aid readiness.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Current Washington or Idaho driver’s license.
• IAHSS basic certification or ability to obtain within one year of hire date.
• Minimum six months of experience in police, military, or security, preferably in a health care setting.
• BLS certification or obtained within 30 days of hire.
• First Aid training within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct general security in the protection of people and property and the enforcement of all applicable policies, rules, and regulations.
• Deter criminal activity and misconduct utilizing tactical techniques.
• Utilize Management of Aggressive Behavior skills both verbally and physically as required.
• Apply Awareness, Vigilance, Avoidance, Defense, and Escape to effectively protect and serve facility campus.
• Utilize weapons detection devices to monitor patients/visitors and ensuring the removal of contraband from facility.
• Apply appropriate techniques with assistive devices when engaging with combative/aggressive individuals.
