Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a medical office or outpatient/ambulatory care setting.
• At least 1 year of medical terminology experience.
• Experience working with an EMR.
• Typing speed of at least 40 WPM.
• Strong verbal and written communication and listening skills.
• Solid patient relations and professional demeanor.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to maintain workflow.
• EPIC EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers calls, screens messages, and provides information to patients.
• Greets and registers patients promptly and courteously.
• Oversees waiting area and coordinates patient movement.
• Instructs on appointments, procedures, and testing; coordinates pre-op testing.
• Schedules appointments, procedures, or surgeries and adjusts schedules daily.
• Verifies information in EMR and insurance; obtains authorizations as needed.
• Ensures paperwork like consent forms and allergy lists are on file.
• Collects co-pays and explains fees to patients.
