Job summary

El Camino Health Medical Network in San Jose, CA is seeking a Full-time Scheduler to join our outpatient multi-specialty care practices. The role involves creating and scheduling patient appointments, coordinating communications across the medical office, and ensuring accurate EMR data and insurance authorizations.

Serving in a daytime Mon-Fri schedule, the Scheduler will greet patients, register them, manage the waiting area, and assist with coordinating pre-op testing and payments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1 year experience in a medical office or outpatient/ambulatory care organization.
• At least 1 year experience with medical terminology.
• Word processing and computer experience.
• Experience working with an EMR.
• Ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM.
• Strong verbal and written communications and active listening.
• Solid patient/guest relations skills with professional, courteous manner.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to maintain workflow.
• Teamwork and flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages, and provides information to patients.
• Greets and registers patients in a prompt, pleasant and helpful manner.
• Oversees waiting area, coordinates patient movement, reports problems or irregularities.
• Instructs and answers questions regarding appointments and procedures; coordinates pre-op testing.
• Adjusts and verifies physician and office schedules daily.
• Verifies information in the EMR, insurance plans, and obtains required authorizations.
• Ensures all paperwork such as consent forms and allergy lists are completed and on file.
• Reviews instructions with the patient and collects fees (co-pays).

Location:San Jose,CA (Expected to relocate to our Cupertino Clinic at some point in the future)

Shift:M-F, 8:00am-5:00pm
