Job summary

Northern Nevada Medical Group in Sparks, NV is seeking a Referral Specialist to coordinate external patient referrals for admission to facility programming. You will evaluate facility capacity and capability to meet patient needs and communicate with clinics, providers, and patients.

Responsibilities include scheduling referrals, pre-authorizing tests, notifying patients, and reporting medical necessity to insurers.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED required.
• Communicates effectively with clinics and hospital.
• Communicates information to appropriate areas, departments and individuals.
• Covers at other clinics as a receptionist as requested
• Schedules tests and referral appointments within 24 hours from receiving the physician order.
• Notifies patients within 24 hours of their appointment
• Pre-certify appropriate tests with insurance companies within 48 hours of physician order
• Other duties as assigned

Responsibilities

• Review and coordinate external patient referrals for admission to facility programming.
• Schedule referrals and pre-authorize tests/procedures.
• Communicate with clinics, referred to clinics, and patients.
• Review clinical data to report medical necessity to insurers.
• Handle additional duties as assigned
