Job summary

HealthTrust Performance Group is seeking a Purchasing Assistant to handle requisition processing, sourcing, vendor negotiations, and purchase order management for Mercy Consolidated Services Center and related Mercy entities. This role emphasizes a service-oriented purchasing process aligned with our mission and values.

The candidate will work with catalog and non-catalog items, leverage Lawson/GHX/CMS tools, and collaborate with departments to optimize purchasing flow and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate/Equivalent Required
• 1+ year(s) of experience in purchasing and/or health care materials experience Preferred

Responsibilities

• Submit all requisitioned catalog item orders daily.
• Source and submit non-catalog purchase orders within 24-48 hours.
• Clarify orders with customer departments, vendors or staff before ordering.
• Utilize Lawson Item File, GHX, CMS, prime vendors and catalogs for sourcing.
• Encourage use of standard items and contract vendors.
• Monitor EDI and AutoFax transmissions and ensure software/hardware function.
• Issue verbal purchase order numbers for repairs or special requests.
• Build Standing and Blanket purchase orders for departments.
• Manage capital purchase requests in Lawson.
