Job summary

Elevance Health invites a Public Policy Intern for a 12-week summer program in Washington, DC. The internship, offered in partnership with Indiana University’s Capital Campus, focuses on analyzing federal and state healthcare policy and preparing policy summaries.

You will track legislation, draft briefs, and support policy positions. Applicants should be enrolled in public policy or related fields and demonstrate strong writing and presentation skills.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in BA/BS or MA/MS in public policy or related major.
• Interest in public policy and the healthcare industry.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; development of presentation skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, including Copilot.
• Candidates graduating in Dec 2027 or May 2028 with a 3.2 GPA or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Track federal and state legislation, regulations, and other developments affecting healthcare.
• Review policy proposals to identify key provisions and implications.
• Draft issue briefs, policy summaries, and presentations to support policy development.
• Attend policy briefings and create summaries documenting key insights.
• Assist team in developing public policy positions and responses to proposals.
