Job summary

Ocean Beach Health seeks a Materials Management Manager to lead procurement, inventory, and supply chain operations across the hospital and clinics. Reporting to the CEO, you will drive cost‑effective purchasing, vendor relations, and reliable supply management to support high‑quality patient care.

You will oversee cross‑department collaboration, ensure policy compliance, and manage staff through hiring, training, and evaluations, contributing to financial stewardship and patient safety.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of management experience, preferably in a healthcare facility.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate suppliers and determine best value.
• Effective decision‑making skills with the ability to select needed products efficiently.
• Solid math skills for comparing pricing and ensuring cost‑effective purchasing.
• Excellent negotiating skills, interpersonal confidence, and vendor communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct procurement, inventory control, receiving, storage, distribution, and mail transport.
• Review, evaluate, and approve purchase orders and non‑stock purchase requests.
• Maintain strong relationships with departments to understand specifications and supply needs.
• Negotiate contracts and serve as primary contact for vendors and distributors.
• Provide administrative support to CFO through reports, budgets, and supply utilization analyses.
• Lead PAR level systems and ensure adequate supply levels organization‑wide.
• Coordinate product evaluations and lead the Product Evaluation Committee.
• Ensure safe practices for receiving hazardous substances and MSDS handling.
• Coordinate leases for large‑ticket items and maintain emergency supply sources.
• Interview sales reps, review vendor performance, and solicit proposals.
